Make a difference in education
UFV Teacher Education offers two programs designed to equip you to become an agent in the changing landscape of education. By enrolling in either of these programs, you will join a learning community that is inclusive, student-focused, and forward-thinking.
Become a teacher
If you've already completed a four-year degree, the Bachelor of Education (BEd) can prepare you to become an elementary, middle or secondary school teacher. Choose from two options within the program: the elementary/middle school option (grades K-7) or the secondary school option (grades 8-12). Within the secondary school option, you are able to specialize by selecting one of two streams: the math/science stream or the humanities stream (English/social studies).
In addition to first-class instruction, you also benefit from the support of a close-knit intellectual community as you transition out of the program to find employment. As a Bachelor of Education graduate, you can decide to start your career in local school districts or explore opportunities in the province and around the world, teaching in public or private schools.
Help shape the next wave of education
Designed to meet the career needs of certified K-12 teachers, the Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Mentorship (MEd) is a locally-developed graduate program that focuses on distributed leadership, teacher-leadership, and innovative forms of mentorship. Upon graduation, you can pursue a variety of leadership roles, formal and informal while fostering the growth and development of the profession as a whole.
