Business Analytics post-baccalaureate diploma

With the growing importance of technologies in our economy, the increasing usage of big data in business practices will be a continuing reality in the future. Business analytics combines a large range of skills allowing professionals to use data in a corporate context and how to make practical and data-driven business decisions. This program prepares students to succeed in a big data environment by providing opportunities to collect, treat, and analyze data in business settings. By combining social responsibility, sustainability, and economic and managerial aspects, this diploma equips learners with the valuable and timely core skills required by a growing number of companies in need of meaningful and responsible solutions for their data-based business domains.

Graduates of this program will be well positioned to meet local, regional, and national demand for experts able to assess and solve challenges in all business areas including agriculture, aerospace, retail industries, housing, integration of suburban communities, and support for Indigenous communities.

Entrance requirements

  1. A 3-or-4-year undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in any discipline with a minimum 60%, or C, average in the last 60 credits or equivalent taken.
  2. Applicants must meet the Degree/diploma level English language proficiency requirement. For details on how this requirement may be met, see the English language proficiency requirement section of the calendar.

  1. Apply online at .

    Additional documents required for a complete application:

    • Official transcripts (or interim transcripts) from all post-secondary institutions attended (excluding UFV) showing grade/course achievement as per entrance requirements. To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly to 51³Ô¹Ïapp from the originating institution; see the Transfer Credit section for details.
    • Applicants whose previous degree is not from an English speaking education system must provide evidence that they have met the Degree/diploma level English language proficiency requirement.
  2. Applicants will be advised of an admission decision and, if accepted, will be provided with registration information. A deposit is required prior to registration (see the Fees and Other Costs section) and will be applied toward tuition fees.

Basis for admission decision

Applicants are considered once their application is complete. As space in the program may be limited, applicants may be ranked based on their grade point average in their last two years of study.

Program duration

The Business Analytics post-baccalaureate diploma is four semesters in duration and is completed in a full-time capacity.

Program continuance

Students enrolled in undergraduate courses (courses numbered 100 or higher) must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.00 to remain enrolled in Good Academic Standing at 51³Ô¹Ïapp. Students in Good Academic Standing will have no registration limits placed on them. Failure to meet the minimum CGPA requirement will result in restrictions on registration and may eventually lead to academic suspension from studies at 51³Ô¹Ïapp. Students on Academic Warning or Academic Probation are limited to registering in 10 credits. Course repetition

Students are not permitted to register for the same course more than three times. Students wishing to register for a course for a fourth time should connect with the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office. Where a course has been repeated, only the higher grade is counted in the GPA calculation.

Readmission

As this is a cohort program, readmission following a stoppage in studies is at the discretion of the dean and dependent on space in the appropriate semester of registration.

Residency

Students must complete at least 50% of the course work at 51³Ô¹Ïapp. Courses taken at partnering universities through an approved Study Abroad student exchange may be used to meet residency requirements.

Graduation requirements

Students are responsible for ensuring they are eligible to graduate, and should regularly consult with an Academic Advisor. To be eligible to graduate, students must achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.00 on all courses (47 credits) required to complete the program.

Students must apply for graduation in the first month of their final semester. Visit the Graduation webpage for more information. The final deadline for students who wish to attend the June Convocation ceremony is April 1 of each year, with all program requirements completed by April 30.
