email SylviePrior to becoming dean in 2021, Murray held multiple administrative roles, including Associate Dean of Faculty for the College of Arts (2016-2021), Program Development Coordinator for UFV (2013-2016), and Head of the History Department (2003-2007). Having achieved her PhD at Yale University, she taught American History first at Yale for four years and then as a faculty member at 51勛圖app from 1994 through 2013.
Murray has a deep history in developing post-secondary systems and policies having been a representative or chair on a variety of university-wide committees overseeing areas such as graduate studies, senate governance, faculty evaluation, tenure and promotion procedures, program and curriculum development, strategic enrolment management, faculty and staff relations, and research advisory.
Murray is sought as an external reviewer and has recently provided service for the BC Degree Quality Assurance Board. Murray’s research, which focuses on post-World War II social and political history, has been published by the University of Pennsylvania Press and Routledge. It has been presented at annual meetings of the Organization of American Historians and the American Studies Association. Murray’s professional service includes several book reviews and peer review for US-based academic journals and university presses.
